The discovery of 1-MNA was the result of several years of work at multiple research sites around the world. Scientists from Poland, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, China and Iran have conducted hundreds of studies on the 1-MNA molecule.

In collaboration with European universities, we have developed a unique technology for the synthesis of 1-MNA, which allows us to offer a high-quality dietary supplement.

Ground-breaking scientific discovery

1-MNA is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. It is formed as a result of the metabolism of niacin. Niacin takes part in the synthesis of the coenzymes NAD+ and NADP+, which are found in numerous cells and are involved in a range of important processes in the body. As we age, our body’s ability to convert niacin to 1-MNA decreases and the amount of coenzyme NAD+ drops as well. This process starts after the age of 30. It has been confirmed that between 40 and 60 years of age, NAD+ levels go down by up to 50%. This results in slower cell production and ageing.

In young cells and tissues, NAD+ levels are higher, which translates into good physical activity and cognitive function as well as greater potential for cell regeneration.


1-MNA, which optimizes NAD+ levels, constitutes a new approach to this process.

The molecule is patented (EP 1713480). 1-MNA is an endogenous, vitamin-derived substance, physiologically present within the human body.

1-MNA molecule

The richest known natural sources of 1-MNA are Wakame brown algae (Undaria pinnatifida) and green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis).

In order to supply with food an amount of 1-MNA equivalent to 1 capsule of the ENDOTELIO dietary supplement, approximately 2 kg of Wakame algae or green tea leaves would need to be consumed daily.


Thanks to our research, we were able to synthesize this valuable substance and demonstrate its safety, obtaining a positive opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)* and an authorization for the so-called “novel food.” As a result, we developed the innovative dietary supplement ENDOTELIO.
